Alan Butler
Charged Technicolor drawings from Dublin based Artist Alan Butler.
“Alan Butler makes use of appropriation and remixes cultural artefacts and icons by taking items that possess specific lineages and combines them with disparate elements in order to create works that possess other ideas and ‘truths’. This results in works that criticise realities which are constructed through the semiotics and narratives created by our consumption of information.” Dublin Contemporary 2011
Alan has recently exhibited his work at Monster Truck Gallery, Dublin, Dublin Contemporary 2011 and the RHA Futures 11 at the RHA in Dublin. You can find more of his work on his visually difficult site here or on his tumblr. Watch the video below of Alan Butler creating his work ‘FatSaintPat’ in 2011.
